Welcome to the Tim and Jaci show! This part of the blog is all about the two of us, the beginning, the wedding and all of the wonderful things that go along with it!
First, I should probably tell you all how Tim and I met! Well we met our freshman year of college through a mutual friend named Robyn. Robyn and I lived on the same floor of Havighurst Hall at Miami University. Tim and Robyn knew each other from high school so as most new college freshman do they ended up spending some time together since they already knew each other… which worked out well for me! I also had the corner room on the 1st floor which was right next to the door and well Tim’s ID did not work to get into our building since he didn’t live there so he enjoyed yelling into my window to let him in to the building and well that must be where it all started.
Tim ended up being my ride home a few times since he had his car at Miami and I did not. As it turns out our parents homes are only like 25-30 min away from each other and our high schools were even in the same “league” for sports so we were pretty close to one another our entire childhood! Ironic right? In any case the ride from Miami to Akron is about 3.5 hours so Tim and I got to know each other pretty well… well that is when I was not sleeping because I have a terrible habit of falling asleep on every car ride we take. Tim usually just dropped me off at the gas station off of my parents exit but as the friendship grew he would take me all of the way home and my mom would feed him dinner!
So for two years Tim and I were just friends. Hanging out probably almost every night and enjoying just about every meal together. Our Sophomore year we tried to schedule most of our classes together (mostly so Tim could help me with all of the number classes because he is so much smarter than me haha) and going out most nights together too. I had some boyfriends in this time period so Tim and I just remained friends. Tim started dating one of his high school best friends during this time named Katie, who was great! I really enjoyed spending time with the two of them when Katie was in town. It was odd because I think we always felt something for each other but there always seemed to be someone else.
So there we were just friends for a while. Finally by junior hear we started to hang out a bit more. Lindsay, pictured above, transferred to OU so I missed her so much! She had been my other half for the last 2 years and my roommate for the last year so I missed her like crazy. Tim and I ended up becoming best friends with a girl named Mandy who we had a ton of fun hanging out with. The 3 of us were pretty much unstoppable. Tim had great roommates and junior year took off! I was an RA at the time so Tim’s apartment was a nice release for me to get out of the dorm! I think all of those details combined brought us closer together.
I should mention here that my Kara, one of my best friends, called this long before the actual dating started! Tim had left a grill cheese maker in my car or something so Kara and I dropped it off at his house when we were off to the mall and when we got back into the car after seeing Tim and his mom Kara looked at me and said “he loves you”. Turns out.. she was right!
So part way into our junior year it was one of those hey let’s start dating situations because it seemed like if we could be best friends maybe we could be more. Looks like that is true! So now we are over 3 years out of college and we are getting married!
Right after college I moved to Boston to work for Rubbermaid and Tim stayed back to finish grad school at Akron University and to complete an internship with a local accounting firm. This, as I am sure anyone else would say that has done a long distance relationship would say, is a true test of your relationship. You have to find a way to maintain a relationship over the phone and for Tim and I… playing ridiculous games and using the webcam to cheat at card games haha. It was tough but what was so great is that when he came to visit it was like a vacation every time! Since neither one of us were familiar with the city we used those weekends as a time to explore the city and just have a great time.
We did so many things while Tim was there! We went to a Red Sox game, we went on a duck tour, we went on a whale watch, we did Halloween is Salem and we went to Mike’s Pastry as often as possible to get cannolis! It was just a cool city to see… here is a little taste for all of u.
So after a while of being in Boston by myself Tim came up to live with me for a little while. He was done with grad school and in the process of looking for a job. It was our first go at living together and it turned out GREAT! Sure we had those normal hiccups along the way but we had a great time getting to know each other better and learning how to live together. After being there a little while Tim and I decided that living on the East Coast just wasn’t for us so we decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to our families.
In the process of deciding to move back home we also decided to buy a house together! Tim did most of the work and he did such a great job. Now we own our own house together and are loving it. We have great neighbors, it is a great location, and is just perfect for us. The last year has gone by so fast and we have been just soaking up life and figuring it out as we go!
So that pretty much brings me to now! We have been been together over 5 years and have known each other about 8. Now we are MARRIED, have our own puppy and just loving this phase of our lives!
