Race Schedule

Welcome back! Or should I say welcome back to me? I apologize for my absence lately but to be perfectly honest I just haven’t had much to say. I let life totally overwhelm me and the stress of it all took over for some time but I’m back.

And I’m back with some exciting news!

Let the training begin… I am officially registered for the Cleveland Half Marathon (the HALFATHON) in May this year and I have already been out and out at 5:30 AM on Mondays and Wednesday freezing my butt off to get ready. Here is what I have officially deemed by 2013 race schedule..

  • Cleveland Rockin’ Marathon Relay: April 27th
  • Cleveland Half Marathon: May 19th
  • The Color Run: June
  • Susan G Komen Akron: July 28th

*I’m even consider the Cleveland Rock n Roll half Marathon on October 5th*

I’m excited to try the Cleveland Half this year since I did Akron’s half last year. The bonus? Cleveland is apparently one of the flattest marathons you can do so that is just fabulous news since my training courses don’t really include very many hills!

And the Susan G Komen is just my annual run that I love love love. I’ve done Akron, Cleveland, and Cleveland again so it’s a race that I hope to continue to do and this year I am gonna train hard and break my record.. I’m gonna finish that baby under 28 minutes.

Someone please don’t let me forget that I said that.

So if anyone is interested in signing up to play with me for any of these events, go ahead! And stay tuned for more post this week include a delicious recipe made with kale, training updates, workouts and some other fun stuff!

New Running Team Names

Hey all! How was your weekend?! Mine was filled with a lot of laughter and as I always try to do I made the best out of a bad situation (snow=bad situation).

So instead of complaining about the snow, the Laney clan jumped right in and had a great afternoon! The girls looked cute in their winter snow gear

The boys just wanted to play on the toys but still managed to smile for us!

We ended our play time with a pretty intense game of musical chairs.. I would have beat my mom but her pushed me off the last the chair haha =) We may just be a little competitive.

But now I need your help… we are putting together another team for The Color Run this year (remember last year?!) and hopefully some other runs and we need to chose a team name! Take a second to vote in the poll below…

Thanks for voting! I’ll let you know what team name is declared the WINNER!

The Color Run

It was a very colorful day on Saturday! Myself along with a handful of friends and family participated in what is known as the “happiest 5K on Earth” and well it may just have been that!

Color Run 8

The Color Run is a 5K fun run/walk that over 8,000 participated in Cleveland, OH on Saturday morning. The parking lots were packed with white t-shirts, sweatbands, tutus, and smiles. Although it was hard to find a parking space it was worth the trip!

I can show you below better than I can tell you about the run but the gist is that 4 times throughout the course of a 5K (which was actually only like 2.8 I believe) you get color “thrown” on you by the volunteers of The Color Run. The best way for me to describe the color is that it is sort of like Kool-Aid but probably not even as grainy as that. As you run by the volunteers they spray you with the color… green, blue, orange, and purple!! Plus, every racer got their own color packet to throw at the end of the race to create a true rainbow of color.

Of course our group just ended up throwing it on each other!

One of the best parts of the race is that it is kid friendly so my niece, Peyton, was able to join in on the fun! Those little legs probably walk/ran about 70% of the race which meant my sister was stuck pulling a wagon full of water bottles, t-shirts, and bags for most of the race! I was impressed by both of them! But Pey was one happy camper after she figured out that is was perfectly OK to roll around on the tarps where they throw the color.

So I hope you enjoy the color run pictures as much as we enjoyed the run!
