So clearly my workouts have been few and far between so I knew I needed to get back on track. Part of the reason really is time. Usually when people tell me that I respond back with “MAKE THE TIME” but I am really starting to realize what that really means. Between work, after work activities, grad school, and wedding planning life has been crazy! So after I had a killer workout the other day I realized how badly I need to get back in the swing of things… including lifting and running!
So I started to think about all of the ways I can bring my work out into my daily life and here are a few “shortcuts” I came up with.
- Take the stairs- I have 2 different parking options at work. One of them requires me to walk about a few flights of stairs and the other does not. Typically I park in the area where I walk into the front door and skip the steps but this week I decided to take the stairs… a simple but easy way to improve my daily life
- Make working out fun- So many times we end up feeling like working out is just another thing on our to-do list so I am going to start finding ways to make working out more fun. As soon as the weather gets warmer I am hoping for Tim and I to take some hikes on the awesome walking and hiking trails we have in the area. For now I am gonna continue busting my butt on Sunday evenings during our soccer games which are fun and entertaining!!
- Set your alarm early; this is more of a wish for me not necessarily something I am doing now. Something about getting a workout in first thing in the morning and knowing you have it accomplished by the time you even head to work is pretty awesome. Right now it is tough because it is so dark outside but every day it gets a little lighter in the mornings so I think I am gonna go back to my morning runs- they really seem to make a difference!
So yea working out is tough but hopefully with these few shortcuts I can get back on track and get my workout on!
