6.5 to talk about

One of my goals for the week was to run 11 miles (per my ½ marathon plan, which I think they should call a halfathon) and I am pretty well on my way at this point!

You probably already read about the 3 miles that Tim and I did outside the other day in our Ohio running gear! Luckily, I scored another really nice evening on Wednesday night and was able to run outside with my mom! We met at the gym and I did about 1.5 miles on the treadmill to get myself warmed up. The gym has a 30 min max out time on the treadmill if people are waiting (and tis the reason for ppl to be waiting) so it is nice when I can do a simple warm up there and then head out. I was also lucky enough that my mom brought me an ear warmer headband since I didn’t have one stashed away in the car! We went out and ran another 2 miles per the wonderful app on my iPhone and then I dropped Mom off at her car! She gets in a lot of miles throughout the week on her own so usually I have to do a little further then her.

I realized that I really start to hit my stride at about 2 miles or so now which is great since I didn’t used to hit it until about 3. I also realized how much nicer it is to run outside when I am not overheating and sweating to death like I am on the treadmill. I guess this means I should move to North Carolina or something where I can run most days outside and still feel great! After my mom headed home I decided to go out and do another mile so I could get a total of 4.5 in that day!

That last mile was great..  it went by really fast and since I don’t actually live where the gym is, I enjoyed looking at some different scenery than the stuff that is around my house I am used to seeing! My pace has stayed pretty steady at around 11:30 something so I’d like to see it get to under 11min/mile by the time the ½ marathon halfathon hits (yes I am making that happen). I managed to do that one 5K with less than 10 min miles but I don’t foresee that happening for 13.1 miles.

A successful run I say…

I also managed to get in 2 miles on the rower during workout class last night! It was tough to go the 1.5 miles after all of the lifting and crazy tough workout but it was worth it in the end! I think tomorrow morning I’ll head to the gym and get 2 or so in which will put me over my 11 mile goal! Anytime you can exceed a goal is a good day, I think!

P.S. I have really been into a few songs to listen to during my running… I am OBSESSED with “This City” and “It Girl” so check them out if you haven’t yet. And if you ever have to run up a really big hill Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” can get you through it!
