Dragging your feet won’t get you anywhere

Woke up in the morning and was automatically feeling tired! Never a good sign. However I still got my butt out of bed, drug my feet on the way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and finally managed to get some running clothes on. This is week 3 for me so in my head I just assume it should be a lot easier by now but I still don’t think so. I mean, I think I would be disappointed in myself if I didn’t get up and do it but for now the sleepiness sometimes controls my morning mood. Tim did manage to get out of bed and then I almost lost him to the couch but he found it in himself to get out there and run despite the urge to sleep. 2nd day of interval 3 looked like this…

Warm Up 5 min
Run 7 min
Walk 1:30 min

And once again the interval timer on Tim’s phone acted up. However, instead of acting up so that we end up walking more it acted up so that we ended up running more. I suppose that is just payback for yesterday. I believe Tim was tired when he woke up but he could have fooled me during the run. See, we live in the same neighborhood where he grew up (and where his mom currently lives) so he knows a lot of people around. Plus, the entire area is full of little neighborhoods that you can walk to so I can imagine they had a pretty big group of friends that they all saw a lot so our run this morning was more of a tour than a run. Somehow someway Tim can manage to talk while he runs so he gave me the whole tour of who lives where, what friends he had in the area, what house burnt down once or twice (he couldn’t remember!), and which house goes up for sale every 2 year. He also added in some colorful commentary on which houses he loves and hated! This made the run go by pretty fast and I enjoyed hearing all of his childhood stories. Something to note… running with someone else is almost always easier! They keep you motivated and you keep them motivated. It’s like a healthy competition because it is completely unspoken but trust me… it’s there! Tomorrow I need to remember to take a puff of my new inhaler the allergist gave me (exercise induced asthma just stinks) so I can contribute more to the conversation without feeling like I am going to die.

For breakfast I made a smoothie but to be perfectly honest it tasted terrible. This time I decided on a frozen banana, strawberries, PB2, and Almond Breeze Vanilla Almond Milk. Now I am not sure if it was the frozen banana or the strawberries or the milk or that matter but something was not right and the smoothie tasted a bit sour so I ended up having to toss it out. Lucky for me I also brought a nectarine to work today to snack on… Unlucky for me that also tasted horrible. Either my taste buds were really off or I was having some serious bad luck with fruit! However the PB2 was and always is delicious. This stuff if Powdered Peanut Butter that my friend Mary (over at Fervent Foodie) turned me on to. It has about half the fat of regular peanut butter and a very impressive shelf life! It literally is just powdered and then mixed with water turns in to peanut butter. Now, I don’t use it as my normal peanut butter because I still like the taste of regular however I put it in my smoothies and other desserts that call for peanut butter because it taste great and is much better for you. I would highly recommend giving it a try. I had to purchase it online- I have no idea if they carry it in stores or what stores they would carry it in. I bet their website can provide even more insight than I can. I simply can just tell you that I like it! I also have a chocolate peanut butter one that I love to use in strawberry smoothies!

Delicious Peanut Butter Chocolate Powdered Peanut Butter

Work went as to be expected and I ended up getting a fun task at the end of the day that allowed me to put on my sales thinking cap… it’s always nice to go back to the things you were good at in your prior life (yes Boston was pretty much an entirely different life)! In any case my lunch was another group lunch because we were celebrating a few people’s successes as they moved on to other departments. It was more “buffet” style and nothing totally moved me but I got a small side salad, a large heaping of peas and carrots, and 1 breaded chicken finger and 3 grilled chicken fingers. Those breaded chicken fingers are delicious but I know how bad they are for you so I only got one that way I got the delicious taste but didn’t load up on the nasty. There were cupcakes as well and Jaclyn was kind enough to give me a bite of hers! It was pretty good- but just wasn’t worth it to me so I stopped at a bite. After that one bite I ended having a sweet tooth the rest of the afternoon! A york peppermint paddy held me over though until it was time to head home.

I got home a little later than usual due to my fun project at work so I wasn’t going to make it to my soccer game in time and a 35 min drive seemed like a very daunting task after a long day at work so I stayed home to hang with Tim. We spent most of the evening talking about weddings and found a NOW resort called NOW Laminar located in the Dominican Republic that we really like. Has anyone ever been to a NOW resort or know anything about them? They have a pretty easy to understand wedding package too- so that was an added bonus PLUS the prices are very reasonable… really a bonus!

For dinner we worked together to create the wonderful masterpiece you can see below.

Mine was the little one in the back!

I don't wanna brag but I make a heck of a salad

Tada! The final prodcuct

Tim marinated the grilled the chicken and I made the salad and cut up the veggies for him to add to the grill. The veggies were fresh from Tim’s manager’s garden! The zucchini was like the size of my head- seriously huge! Then we spent the rest of the night doing more wedding research and eventually headed off to bed! Not a very exciting day but another good day!

The more you worry, the more wrinkles you get

Another weekend gone and another work week started! Oh the joys of being a grown-up. Do you remember when you were younger? Oh I remember crying over my friend using the beautiful red dress on her Barbie when I really wanted to use it on mine. I remember getting so angry at my parents for not giving me that second pack of fruit snacks even though I ate all of my dinner. Oh and  having a big sister that wouldn’t let you come in her room and play with her and her really cool high school friends, that was just the worst! These are the things we used to worry about hu? Then in high school we had to worry about getting good grades so that we could get into a good college. We worried about whether or not our boyfriends or girlfriends were going to kiss us after the Valentine ’s Day dance. We worried that our friends were talking about us behind our backs and then we tried to figure out what we could say or do to get them back. When I got to college I remember worrying about grades (yet again!) but this time I worried because I wanted to get a good job. I worried about what I was going to do with the rest of my life and if I was going to be any good at it. Eventually I worried about where I was going to live and whether or not I would make enough money to be able to afford that small one bedroom apartment. Gosh we worry a lot.

And now that I am growing up and have officially hit my “mid-twenties” I am worry about whether or not my job fulfills me and what I could do differently to make sure it does. I still wonder if my money will allow me to live the life I want to live. More recently, I am wondering where I should get married? Who will I offend? And how the heck am I going to afford it! Oh and then I know I will start worrying about our next home purchase and then babies. How many should we have? Can we afford to raise them the way we want to? What will I do when they cry? Or won’t sleep? Or won’t eat? Gosh from the time we are able to form thoughts we worry a heck of a lot don’t we? The bummer of it all… I have finally realized that the more you worry the more wrinkles you get!

So that is my thought of the day and something that has been on my mind. Let’s get to the interval this week! So Monday morning I practically sprung out of bed. I think my body knew it was time to get moving and after a long weekend of friends, food, and fun my body deserved something good for it! So alarm went off, yep still at 5:30 in the freaking morning, and up I went. I am in a new routine now where I get up brush my teeth and get dressed before I ask Tim whether or not he has any interest in going. This morning he said yes so we shared our before run snack of MaraNatha Chocolate Almond Spread for me and creamy peanut butter for Tim on bagel thins and we were off! Our new interval this week looks like this…

Warm Up 5 min
Run 7 min
Walk 1:30 min

Because it was a new interval that would require more running that also meant a longer track so we took a different route this morning. It was pretty nice to mix things up a bit- I think I was getting a little tired of the old route from last week. The run started out great and we were using a new interval timer on Tim’s Droid but realized on the 2nd walk that the app had decided to just stop running! What that meant was that we walked a little longer than 1:30 but I think I realized it fast enough that it didn’t put us too far off the interval. So with that being said if you can create apps please create one for a Droid or a Palm that actually works because we need one!

By the end of this run my right calf muscle was ON FIRE which is just ironic because Tim’s left calf muscle was burning up too! Guess we used our legs more than we thought over the weekend. This was a great run because we had like 4 or 5 people say good morning which always makes you feel good. The route we ended up taking had a ton of road construction on it so that also kept me pretty alert, I mean I didn’t want to run into a bright orange cone. Most of our walking conversation was centered on the wedding. We are still just very undecided on what the right thing to do is. I am all for a destination wedding but I, of course, want my family and closest friends to be able to attend and to support the wedding itself. Plus, and the biggest reason we’ll have to do destination, is mostly because we are going to be paying for this ourselves and at age 25 I can’t say that we have saved up a whole lot to get married. Not to mention the savings we do have are on a 5 year new house plan and really shouldn’t be used for one wedding night. A destination wedding allows us to have most of the things we want out of a wedding at a reasonable price but unfortunately I can’t say that everyone in my life is 100% supportive of the idea. It will be more expensive to attend for our guest vs. a regular wedding but at least they are getting a vacation out of it too right? In any case, this is not an easy decision to make! Any HELP would be greatly appreciated! For examples take this poll and tell me which of these locations YOU would chose to get married at.

No fancy breakfast this morning because I just ran out of time. I settled on an Eggo low-fat waffle because it was easy to travel with and quick to grab out of the freezer. For lunch we went out to celebrate a co-workers birthday and since our options are limited we chose Bob Evans since that really mixes things up! I wanted to choose something that wouldn’t make me feel like crap the rest of the day so I chose the turkey sandwich that had bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese on it served on sourdough bread. I decided to skip the bread and the cheese and just had the remaining toppings on some lettuce. It was pretty good! And the side of fruit and applesauce really hit the spot as a nice dessert. When I got home I was glad I ate well because Tim and I headed over to his grandparents house so that we could go to dinner at a place called The Bistro. Well, The Bistro is closed on Mondays so we ended up eating at Tre Belle- which was great news because I have wanted to try there for a while now! I have heard such wonderful things about their pizzas so I chose a glass of Pinot Noir along side a Chicken Pizza topped with pesto and goat cheese. This pizza was DELICIOUS. And the pasta Tim chose (with spicy sausage, whole wheat penne noodles, and broccoli) was named the best pasta dish he has ever had so I would say it was a pretty successful evening. They also brought us out a free tiramisu for dessert and it was good but I’m not a big fan of tiramisu so I’m not sure I can give it a very accurate review.

After dinner we talked about the wedding some more and got some input from his grandparents which we are sorting through now! Then we went home to watch the Bachlorette and I just can’t seem to figure out who she is going to pick! I LOVE JP and think he is VERY handsome but her and Ben seem very compatible so I just don’t know what to think. For those of you who watch, who will she pick?

They are so cute!

Oh but wait, so are they!
