Happy Hump Day! Everyone loves a good hump right?
First I have a few “housekeeping” things. With the recent upgrade to self-hosting I think I lost some of you that subscribed via e-mail. So if you would like to receive any new updates FIRST before anyone else even sees it on Facebook or Twitter, please enter your e-mail address in the box just over to the right of this post. I apologize for this being a pain in the butt but it doesn’t look like everything transferred over perfectly.
Secondly, I have a special post today because I am going to share a post written by a friend of mine. Rich over at “The Real Estate Guy” wrote a post that I found very inspiring the other day. He wrote about being happy. That really truly kind of happy that it seems only some people have now-a-days and I just thought it was a well-written and inspiring post.
I recommend you head over to Rich’s blog to read his thoughts now BUT I also want to provide some of my favorites from his post!
Rich said “I almost feel that happiness isn’t an all-encompassing thought/feeling/emotion/whatever you call it. I think the goal in life to surround yourself with as much happiness as you can you. Whatever makes you happy, you need to surround yourself with it… all the time.”
You’re probably thinking well duh… surround yourself with things that make you happy right? Well, ask yourself whether or not you actually do that and it probably doesn’t sound like such an easy question.
I realized that, for me, I do surround myself with things that make me happy. At home I have Tim who makes me smile and laugh every day. I have TV shows that make me laugh. I have friends that I talk to that I love. I have a family that checks in on me. I have food (like Menchies haha) that I love to eat.
But there are certainly things I surround myself with that don’t make me happy. Like surrounding myself with thoughts that things always have to be perfect. Like bringing my work home with me when I’ve had a bad day. Things that wedding stress that doesn’t help to get anything accomplished and just creates even more stress. I think we all could agree that you should surround yourself with things that make you happy but sometimes we just feel like life forces us to be surrounded by less than desirable things.
I don’t know about you but Rich certainly gave me a lot to think about!
