So many random but wonderful things happen in my life (and I’m sure yours) so I thought I would take some time to tell you about a few wonderfully random but great things I have in my life!
So during our Hunger Games date, Bestest and I made a trip to Ulta to refresh our spring nail polish collection! I was in need of a desperate refresh because it seemed like the only color I had was 100 different shades of pink. But sometimes you just gotta clean out that collection and get some new! So while we were shopping for bright blues and greens Kara told me that she heard Essie 3-way glaze was pretty fabulous. There was only 1 left in the store and like the wonderfully awesome best friend she is she let me buy it- but I promised to give her a review on it! So here I am providing my bestest with a review and all of you because I was pretty impressed.
I should mention here that I am TERRIBLE about my nails. I am a bitter, picker, and everything in between. I’m lucky if nail polish last an entire day on me because as soon as one little chip or scratch happens… it’s all down hill from there. BUT I love pretty nails! I am inspired by people that always have pretty nails- like my co-worker and friend Jaclyn who has a blog and always has the nicest pictures of her nails! It just makes your hands look pretty and clean. Put together almost. I could use a little help looking put together some days. So my goal for this spring and summer was to commit myself to having better prettier nails. Plus, I figured it would be nice to have natural pretty nails for the wedding!
In the past I typically have purchased just generic cheap nail polish. But I find it ALWAYS chips off and I figure just like my tennis shoes- sometimes you gotta invest in a good pair if you want to invest in something you love. So I started to invest in the creative and fun OPI colors and recently heard Essie was a good brand from some girls that work with Tim. So now I have a little of both!
My review on the 3-way Glaze is this:
It’s pretty sweet. Ever since the famous “shellac” came out I’ve been a big fan of the very shiny nails and the 3-way glaze does that for you. Now, it’s not a shellac so it’s probably not going to last you 3 weeks or whatever they claim but it is cheaper than a shellac and gives the same look. Plus, it doesn’t damage your nails like the shellac often does if you are like me and start picking it off long before you should! I am still painting my nails almost every night but that is not because the 3-way glaze isn’t awesome- it’s because I have bad nail picking habits I need to stop. If you are a person that just looks at your nails and doesn’t mess with them all day long (first I envy you) and second I think this is a great product!
Here was some cheaper nail polish I bought (didn’t want to spend too much on a yellow) and honestly, I think the glaze made it look like a better nail polish than it really is. And yes, proof that I am not a great nail polisher!
I’m not sure that I am ready to commit to Essie as my official colored nail polish sponsor- the green I purchased seemed to chip a little easier than the OPI (but again I am a terrible nail painter so it was probably me) but I am certainly willing to give it a few more tries! They have made a customer out of me for their 3-way Glaze no doubt.
I put this one my toes this last Saturday (duh it was Easter- plus my niece just loves this sort of stuff) and it is holding up great with that glaze! (feet are a little more difficult to pick and bite at- and even if I could physically do that- it’s just gross)
I realize there is a really good chance that I am just behind the times so forgive me if you are already in love with Dropbox and this is just really old boring news to you- but in the words of Buddy the Elf “I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it” My friend Rose told me about dropbox a few weeks back and honestly, I think she changed my life!
So I’m sure dropbox does a much better job with their marketing pitch than I am about too- but it is pretty much a program (for your computer and phone) that is also available online that gives you a space to download files, pictures, and whatever else so that you can access it on the go and from multiple locations. For me, I keep it on my work computer and my home computer and recently just found the app for my IPhone. It has saved me time and e-mail space and makes me very happy.
I find two main uses for it.
#1 it is GREAT for wedding stuff. You are able to share certain folders with other people so Tim and I share a wedding folder. It is on his dropbox and it is on mine. We both have access to it, can change it, add/remove, and just do whatever we want with it. So on there we keep the guest list (so easy to update addresses this way), shower information, hair ideas (okay this is just me), invitations ideas, centerpiece ideas (still all me) but you get the point. THEN let’s say I am at my moms and she asks “oh did you pick your hair style” why yes and I have a photo for it… I can log in online and show her on her computer or I can just pull it up on my phone and show her there. TADA so easy.
#2 reason why it is awesome…. Blogging. So I like to take real pictures and put them on the blog. I know some bloggers don’t like pictures of their real life but I like to share my actual life with my friends and followers! It makes it personal for me. So this is great because a lot of the pictures I take with my phone (so convenient right?) and now that I have the app on my phone it is literally a 3 second process to get that picture on my phone into the dropbox where I can then access it from either one of my computers .
I don’t know how else to say it. Really freaking cool.
So if you already have dropbox than you and I share a love. If you want to get dropbox Sign up for Dropbox here (which is a unique link that will give me more space- so use that link!!) Seriously, another perk! You can continue to get more space if you refer people- I also heard you can get more by signing up with a school e-mail address (like a .edu) but I didn’t do that so I can’t confirm.
CrossFit Workouts that Make you want to PUKE
Nothing like a good old CrossFit workout that makes you want to throw up. But that is what life is all about right? Challenging yourself to do more than you have done before. Accomplishing goals.
Or in other words, kicking ass and taking names.
Well the other night I’m not sure if I got my ass kicked or if I kicked Crossfit’s ass but regardless there was a lot of that going on. Had a GREAT workout that made it difficult to walk the next day but felt great and managed to finished 2nd in the group- behind my sister who put the whoppin’ on me a little bit.
So in case you either can’t read that or just are too scared here is what it says (well this is the order I did it in since I started kind of from the bottom up so we didn’t run in to each other)!
The filthy forty
- 500 meters on rower
- 40 air squats
- 40 burpees
- 500 meters on rower
- 40 dips
- 500 meters on rower (Peyton helped push me along on this round of the row)
- 40 push-ups
- 40 sit-ups (with a 3 year old sitting on me haha bonus round I guess)
CRAZY! This was for time which I finished in a little over 17 minutes. So amazing how some of these ladies have really improved since they last did this workout in May 2011. Take a look at Patty, Joy and Abby up there.. they cut over 10 minutes off of their time! AMAZING job! Really so impressive if you ask me. Those women are nuts in the very best way possible. I admire their strength and commitment and clearly they just keep getting stronger as each day goes by! So seriously, Congrats to all of you amazing women who are constantly working hard and doing great things for your mind and body. I am impressed by each and every one of you!
I hope you enjoyed all of these random thoughts today!
