Thoughtful Thursday- Gummy Rehab
So last Thursday my thoughts were pretty deep and serious. This Thursday, well, they are a bit more relaxed and not necessarily of any real importance or significance… unless of course you consider a gummy addiction serious and in that case, this is the most serious post I have ever written.
Ever since I was little I have loved candy. Gummy, Chewy, Delicious Candy. I actually envy those people that are “salty” people (and no not like they are salty like when you say “gosh are you salty or what” but more like hey I love potato chips salty) because most of the time they can stay away from candy. They can put out a candy bowl in their living and end up throwing away the jelly beans after a few months. I’m lucky to have those jelly beans for a few minutes.
My candy addiction started with Skittles (at least I think I did- maybe my parents and sister can confirm that). I used to always ask for Skittles every time we went to the store, watched a movie, or if I could manage to get one of my friend’s parents to buy them for me. I just loved to “Taste the Rainbow” I suppose.
Then my Skittle addiction went away. I moved on to gummy bears. This changed somewhere in middle school and I actually remember for my 16th birthday getting a 6 pound bag of gummy bears from my at the time boyfriend’s mother (Sam’s Club or BJ’s if you are interested). My mom made me share with every single person that came over but I remember them being delicious.
After that I think my gummy bear addiction stopped. 6 pounds of gummy bears will do that to you.
So I moved on to Twizzlers…. Specially Pull-n-Peel. There is just something about that delicious treat that is fun. You get to play with it- I like to pull a string off and tie it is knots and then eat it. One single piece can feed like 10 people if you give them each a peel so that is just cost effective if you ask me. Plus I remember reading once that some models live off of Pull-n-Peel and Champagne. I’m old enough to know better now but hey I thought it seemed like a great reason to keep eating.
But then the reality sunk in and I moved on to Sour Patch Kids. First off, I love those commercials. Sour at first but then so sweet. Secondly, I like how tiny they are and how you can just pop them in your mouth and with a few chews BAM deliciousness. Lastly, I just love them. It’s that simple. Plus the bag says “fat free” so hey they can’t be that bad for you right… they are good.
But all good things have to come to an end sometime (I hope that isn’t true for marriage, love, friendship, and those types of things but it has held true with my gummy addiction).
Now that I try to lead a healthier lifestyle I have been trying to get away from the gummies. Now, don’t misunderstand me… I still get Sour Patch Kids when I go to the movies and I still eat Twizzlers when Kara and I decide to have girl nights but at some point I realized that this addiction could not be considered a healthy thing.
So I moved on to gummy vitamins.
Vitafusion has saved my gummy addiction. They seriously have all sort of delicious gummy vitamins which fulfill my need to eat gummies but in a much healthier way than I had done in the past! They have gummies for just about every need… prenatal, women, men, fiber, general, vitamin c, calcium, and many more. Thus far, I have been taking the Vitamin C, Calcium, and just a Multi Vitamin. The calcium ones are my latest edition and I actually found a 2 pack of those at BJ’s which was great because I got to leave one at home and bring one to work… so no matter where I am I can get my gummies vitamins in for the day.
The hard part? Only eating 2 gummies a day! With all 3 kind this gives me 6 gummies a day which you would think would be sufficient but to be perfectly honest… sometimes I sneak an extra Vitamin C or something before bed. Which is funny because 2 of those gummies equals 10 tangerines and the thought of eating 15 tangerines makes me feel sick but eating 3 gummies makes me feel great.
So one day when I get pregnant I think I’ll get the Vitafusion prenatal vitamins. I am gonna go on a hunt for the fiber ones sometime soon because I could use 2 extra gummies little extra fiber in my diet.
So I guess the thought behind my thoughtful Thursday is this… I love Vitafusion for making gummy vitamins. Nothing beats finding a healthy way to consumer gummies!
